Download Acceptance Test Documentation Templates

A company’s acceptance test documentation should contain details of every test conducted on the backup environment prior to commissioning. Many companies perform acceptance testing, but don’t retain the documentation produced with the rest of the backup system, which represents a considerable loss of knowledge of the capabilities of the backup environment, particularly when staff move on.

The acceptance test procedures should be the first point of reference in allowing administrators to answer the question “can we do this?”
Obviously the acceptance test procedures need to have covered the appropriate components of the implementation. At bare minimum, during implementation, acceptance test results should be noted for:

Each operating system type
Each major database and application type that requires its own backup or recovery procedures
General backup/recovery testing
Operational testing of key hardware such as tape libraries, virtual tape libraries, disk backup units, etc.
Witnessed signatures
If the company installed the system itself, then the staff who conducted the testing should be noted, as well as the manager responsible for assigning them the testing.
If a vendor (integration or product) facilitated the installation, each test should be signed both by an appropriate staff member and a vendor representative.
