Security Personnel Selection and Background Check Checklist
There are different issues to be considered related to personnel selection or staffing, depending on whether the security force is proprietary or contract or a combination of both. With both categories of employees there should have been the following:
Extensive background checks including:
• Verification of Social Security numbers
• Fingerprint checks at both the state and federal level to check their criminal records and to verify that they are who they say they are
• Criminal records checks at the local level for the past seven years in all of the areas they have lived and worked
• Credit checks to determine if they have extensive financial problems
• Civil records checks to see if they are involved in any lawsuits
• Verification of all aspects of the application including a detailed check of any gaps in employment as well as a credit check
