What is Qualification in Computer Auditing (QICA), CISA Equivalent in UK
The Qualification in Computer Auditing was launched in 1988 and closed to new candidates in 2007. The Institute has been reviewing its portfolio of qualifications with specific focus on the needs of IT auditors and in April 2008 announced a proposal for a new Postgraduate Certificate in IT Auditing. Pending the results of our consultation period, we hope to launch the new Certificate in 2009.
The final exam for the Qualification in Computer Auditing will be held in November 2008. For reference, information is given below on the structure and content of this qualification.
Successful Qualification in Computer Auditing students are able to:
- Demonstrate professional competence in their specialist field
- Apply computer auditing skills in practical day-to-day situations
- Give assurances on risk and control issues relating to information systems
- Acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to monitor their organisation's information systems in depth.
What are the features and contents of the qualification?
The Qualification in Computer Auditing comprises two theory modules and a professional experience module. The two theory modules are:
- Q1 Business Information Systems Auditing
- Q2 Specialist Information Systems Auditing
The professional experience module comprises a log of 1600 hours of computer auditing work experience over at least two years.
